Fassmer expanded its portfolio in the area of speciality shipbuilding with the contract to develop, build and deliver two 32m seaport assistant tugs for the Hamburg-based towing, tugboat and salvage company “Bugsier”.
With their length of 31.5m and beam of 11.3m, the “Bugsier 7” and “Bugsier 8” can steam at a maximum speed of 13 knots. Their hull shape and propulsion system were optimised for a nominal bollard pull of 70 tonnes. The vessels were conceived for operation in seaports and coastal areas (RSA 200). With an engine output of 2x 2249kW and two robust Schottel rudder propellers each, both tugboats are high-performance power packs. A bollard pull of altogether 72 tonnes, each was measured and certified in the presence of the classification society Germanischer Lloyd. Both boats offer enough space for a crew of six but are usually operated with a crew of three.
