As a family business in its fifth generation, it is a matter truly dear to our heart to create new opportunities for the next generations ahead with our corporate actions. At Fassmer we are committed to this in many ways.
Our sustainability strategy is based on three closely interrelated pillars: environment, society and economy.
With our products for wind energy and the maritime industry, we feel a special connection to the elements wind and water. Together with our clients, suppliers and partners, we work daily to find environmentally friendly and energy efficient solutions.
Already since 1995, we have been supporting the energy transition in Germany and the world with the spinners and nacelles we produce. Our ships and boats have been using alternative drive concepts for many years. In 2015, the HELGOLAND was the first German built vessel with an LNG drive. Currently, we build the UTHÖRN, Germany’s first ship powered by methanol. This makes us a pioneer on the journey to climate-friendly shipping.
As a company, Fassmer is committed to accomplish carbon neutrality until 2035 with an integrated and individual strategy. To make this happen, we are implementing a broad range of different measures – as green power purchasing, energy-saving measures and the implementation of more efficient technologies – and are continuously expanding these. Moreover, we are increasingly aligning our product portfolio with the goals of climate neutrality through constant new developments.
As a family business that is still based in the same place as when it was founded in 1850, we are deeply rooted in the region. The encouragement of our employees and young talents as well as the support of good causes and passionate local non-profit organizations is important to us. Education, science and humanitarian aid organizations are other areas in which we have always been involved.
For us, sustainable management means complying with the highest ethical principles in our work. Therefore, we also expect our suppliers to comply with human rights, labor standards and environmental protection. We expect our employees to treat each other and our stakeholders with respect at all times.
For us, sustainable management also means a solidly positioned company and a future-proof industry. As a member of the German Shipbuilding and Ocean Industries Association (VSM), we support the exchange of information in the maritime industry and work to strengthen the attractiveness of Germany as a business location. International competitiveness and job security in the German shipbuilding industry are particularly important to us.
