Besides other technics to produce fibre composite components, hand lay-up is the oldest and easiest.
A simple lower mould for the component’s future geometry is the base. Semi-finished fibre products are integrated into the mould (roving, mesh, mat etc.) Then each layer (or the complete component) is compacted and deaerated by hand using a simple roller.
The hand lay-up offers high flexibility because it can be used with different fibre types and materials, and also with large or segmented tool moulds. Stiffeners, different core materials, PU foam or balsa wood can be worked directly into the component. The step-by-step production process helps counteract mistakes or problems immediately.
