The two ships "Messboote Seeversuche Küste" are identical boats constructed according to civilian standards and modified for the special requirements of defence trials. The boats are approx. 50 meters long and are intended for the Wehrtechnische Dienststelle (WTD) 71 of the German Bundeswehr. The customer is the Federal Office of Bundeswehr Equipment, Information Technology and In-Service Support (BAAINBw).
The concept of the multi purpose vessel developed by Fassmer makes it possible to adapt the equipment for completing the tasks simply, flexibly and individually to the respective mission and testing purpose, thus always producing a targeted configuration of the boat's capabilities.
The multi purpose vessels will support the securing and recovery of torpedoes during trials, the escorting of submarines during shallow water trials, as well as the deployment of autonomous underwater vehicles and diving operations as part of defence-related investigations of diving devices and equipment.
